Weekly Spotlight

If you live in the Northeast, you’ve probably already noticed that chill in the air. The sweaters are out, the heat’s kicking on, and for many of us on GLP-1s, it feels like we’re living in a walk-in freezer. If you’ve found yourself shivering when everyone else seems fine, you’re not imagining it. Feeling cold is a real and pretty common side effect of GLP-1 medications.
Here’s what’s going on. As your body loses weight, you naturally lose some of that insulating fat that used to help keep you warm. On top of that, GLP-1s can slow down your metabolism a bit, meaning your body produces slightly less heat. Combine that with the brisk fall breeze and, well, you’re suddenly the person wearing a hoodie indoors in October.
The good news is there are some easy ways to warm up. Start by dressing in layers, even when you’re at home. A cozy fleece or heated blanket can make a huge difference. Keep your meals balanced with enough protein and healthy fats, which help keep your energy (and body temperature) steady. Staying active also helps get your blood moving and your internal thermostat back up.
And let’s be honest, there’s no shame in cranking up the indoor temp to 80 or investing in 3-4 more blankets than necessary. Think of it as your new comfort companion for this phase of the journey. Some warm drinks like coffee and tea can help too.
So if you find yourself freezing your cojones off this season, know that you’re not alone. The chill is temporary, and your body will adjust over time. Until then, throw on an extra 13 layers or so and remind yourself that you’re just burning calories… very, very slowly.

Tip: Sleep = Success
If you’re serious about making the most of your GLP-1 journey, here’s a secret weapon that doesn’t come in a pen: SLEEP. It sounds simple, but quality rest plays a huge role in how your body responds to the medication.
When you don’t sleep enough, your hunger hormones get out of whack. That can mean more cravings, low energy, and slower progress. On the flip side, a good night’s sleep helps your body balance blood sugar, manage appetite, and keep energy steady throughout the day. Basically, it’s the quiet part of the process that does a lot of heavy lifting.
If sleep hasn’t been your strong suit lately, try a few of these:
Set a routine. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, even on weekends.
Put your phone down. Scrolling before bed keeps your brain wired.
Keep it cool and dark. Your body sleeps better in a calm, dark room.
Cut caffeine after noon. GLP-1s can already mess with digestion, and caffeine too late can make it worse.
It’s not about trying to get perfect sleep every night, it’s building better habits over time. Your body (and your results) will thank you for it.
